The year I was going to turn 30, a friend and I decided to go to London for three months. We wanted to get away and experience something new. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up staying!
I was working for large international companies for several years and was really enjoying it! I had some truly amazing experiences along the way. I was earning a decent amount of money, had great work colleagues and loads of opportunities to further my professional growth and development. With nights out and cool parties, I was living the life!

I was outwardly very happy, but inwardly I struggled – I wasn’t enjoying my life or my job as much as I had been

As I turned 40, things began to change. I was outwardly very happy, but inwardly I struggled.
I wasn’t enjoying my life or my job as much as I had been and started feeling bored, unmotivated and unfulfilled. Nothing felt exciting anymore and I often wondered if this was life.
With stressful days and a lifestyle where healthy habits were slipping or were even non-existent it started to take its toll on me. I was suffering from afternoon slumps that I ‘cured’ with sugary snacks and coffee to keep awake. I felt generally sluggish, got sick frequently and was exhausted much of the time. As soon as it was Monday I longed for the weekend. The one thing that made me truly happy and excited was when I had a holiday booked, then I knew I was going to “get away” from my everyday life for a bit. The alarm bells were ringing.

I was hoping and wishing that something would happen, that an opportunity would magically appear or that I would win the lottery…”

I was hoping that one day I would find clarity and with that, the courage to make a change. Or maybe I should be grateful with what I had and just get on with it? It wasn’t that bad after all…
So, on the whole, I had lost touch with myself and I felt stuck in my own life. A feeling that whatever’s going to happen is going to happen and that there was nothing I could do about it.

“This was my chance to turn my life around!”

A couple of years later I was faced with the fact that the company I worked for at the time was going to close down and everyone would be made redundant or relocated. I decided to stay on until the end, so over the course of nearly a year I watched all my lovely colleagues leave and move on to pastures new.
It was during this time a process in me started. Being made redundant forced me to reflect and figure out what I wanted to do next in my life and career. The problem was that “I still didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up”
As I’d been feeling quite homesick lately and was missing my family and friends, I came up with the brilliant idea to go and live in Sweden for a while, now that I had the chance!

“I wanted a life that I really loved living and wasn’t going to settle until I figured it out!”

Once back home, I decided to change my life for the better. I wanted to get my joy for life back, improve my health and finally figure out what to do with the rest of my life. I wanted a life that I really loved living and wasn’t going to settle until I figured it out!
I was dreaming of being able to manage my own time and to be free to work from anywhere in the world. I knew that I wanted to work closely with people and to help in one way or another. It was important for me to do something meaningful and to know that I was making a difference. It had to be something that made me jump out of bed in the morning, even on a Monday!
I realised that nothing was going to magically happen unless I made a change, so it was time to stop making excuses and commit to taking action!

It took me a couple of years of soul searching to figure out what I wanted to do. By slowing down and taking the time to get really clear about what I wanted my future to look like, how I wanted to live my life, what was important to me and why, I was able to find my path and begin to create a life and a career that I love – on my terms.

“Now I help people change their lives and I absolutely love it!”

I’m so glad that I invested the time and money in myself. It was the best thing I could’ve done and I have never looked back!
